Angora Goats

Outlaws Paradise has a small tribe of Angoras. They have made the perfect addition to our ranch. The fleece taken from an Angora goat is called mohair. Angoras are shorn twice a year. The mohair fiber is very soft and can be used in many different ways.

Our mohair is raised and process right here on the ranch. We then spin the Mohair into yarn and make 100% mohair cinches and breast collars.

Once the fiber has reached over 4" we will sheer them. This process is a lot easier when your goats are tame. So we spend a lot of time with our goats so they do not become stressed.

This is a picture after one of the angoras has been sheered and one is waiting her turn.

After the goats sheered we keep them inside the barn and put a sweater on them for the first couple of days to keep them warm until they have acclimated.

The mohair is then taken inside to be washed in hot soapy water and spread out to dry.
